Welcome to First Presbyterian Church! FPC is a loving, caring, Christian church family. As a family of Jesus Christ we cherish and embrace the joy of serving our Lord. Are you getting ready to move into the area? Are you looking for a new church family or never been a part of a church family before? Come and discover what God has to offer at FPC.
Working Together in Ministry
As a family of faith we work together to share the seriousness of our faith but also to communicate the love and joy of being a follower of Christ. It is conveyed in traditional events like worship and Sunday School. We also grow in our faith through classes like the Disciples Bible Study. Disciples Bible study is a nine month course which includes reading from the Bible and study manual to prepare for the weekly group meeting filled with learning, reflection, eating, and laughter.
We send relief packages to our soldiers overseas sharing our gratitude and love for their great effort and sacrifice. We participate in BackPack Pals which is a minstry that provides food to elementary school children to eat on the week-ends when they are not in school. We pray for those who are not members of our church because we are all members of God's family. We participate in commuinity events like the Lenten, Easter sunrise, and Thanksgiving services. We are always looking for God calling us in new directions.
Children and Youth
We have a mid-week program called “What’s Up Wednesdays” for ages 4 through 7th grade that meets during the school year. This group meets at 5:30 for dinner then for a time of learning about God, working on crafts, and even playing.
Our Youth Group (8th – 12th grade) meets weekly during the school year as well. This group learns about God in a much more relaxed atmosphere. The youth discover that church is not only a safe place to learn about God and discover their faith but that it's a place where they want to come and be involved. The mid-week and youth programs are made up of church members and those from other churches.
History
FPC was founded in 1850 and during the time we have molded, shaped, and become an intricate part of Carthage and Moore County. We have a rich history even as we are moving in new directions according to God’s Spirit.
